There was a video just like this except that there was an injured lioness with a broken leg and she just had a baby. So, she cried for help. Two lions came and ate her.

Helping humans I agree, and I believe it should come first. Helping animals, it depends on the situations because we should not go so far as to create an imbalance in nature.

It's not the intelligence of one being, but of the whole group. We are simply smarter than them and thus we're superior. And we may have mentally challenged people, but they are human... they come before animals. That being said, my point is that no one should value any animal's life more than another human's. That is the brotherhood of man.

we should help both, becuase we are hurting both. neather comes first. yes we are intellagently advanced species but that dosent mean animals dont feel what people do. that is commonly misunderstated. It is proven even dogs feel empathy. animals can feel emotion. they have personalitys.

There are many good things about humanity. Our superior minds enable us to do good things on a larger scale, but generally speaking it it true that there are certain atrocities that humans have a monopoly on. Having said that I'm not prepared to sacrifice any of my loved ones for a cat or a monkey.

Just curious. If it is our intelligence and ability to process complicated information that makes us superior, does that mean that a severely mentally retarded person who cannot speak and has the intellectual capacity of an animal is not equal to other humans? There are brain damaged and brain dead humans who may be less smart than some animals. If it's smarts that makes us superior then by that line of reasoning mentally challenged humans are inferior.

Animals are not our equals. They are beings just like us yes, but they cannot think about complicated things like we can. And some may or may not have emotions, but that doesn't change a thing in terms of inequality. I'm not saying I hate animals or don't try to preserve species etc. But man should know to what extent he should interfere with nature. And before we try to help animals we care about... we should really help other humans first.

As a species we do some rather horrible things as well. You never hear of wolves committing genocide or lions torturing their prey and short of some insects no species go to war with one another. Animals tend to take only what they need to live. So on a whole it is understandable that some people think humans are more savage than animals.
