Not really slang but Middle English colloquial;it was spoken as the laws of English followed at the time but with distinct markers that can give away the specific area from which he wrote.

I hate these pseudo-modern-transcriptions of languages in English... Are English-speaking people the only ones unaware of IPA? I would expect anyone learning Middle English to know the phonetic alphabet.
