Reincarnation is not a fraud. But you mentioned does happen sometimes. Some "demons" could definitely deceive.

If people were following religions, world would be a better place. But sadly people have religions just in their birth certificates. Real Buddhism was mixed with Hinduism and formed Mahayana Buddhism thus Mahayana Buddhism is a mixer of Hinduism and Buddhism. This is the reason for your theory. A simple difference between Pure/Theravada Buddhism and Hinduism/Mahayana Buddhism is the prior doesn't worship gods but latter does. And by the way Buddha was actually born in land of Nepal.

Actually reincarnation is widely believed in Buddhist cultures. Buddhism considers life as a circle. What you have done in the current life indicates what you will be in next life. It is just like your deeds will determine whether you can go to heaven.
