It is unfortunate that with a Felony conviction that Mr. Heller will no longer be eligible to vote. I hope his conviction can be appealed or the courts will reduce it to a misdemeanor so that his voting rights can be restored. It is a tragedy that an American Hero like Mr. Heller will be denied the right to vote because of his committment to the American voter!

This (above) sounds to me like a thoughtful and accurate analysis of this case. I hope Mr Heller and his attorney are listening and will appeal under these grounds.

I like to think I would have fought this all the way to the SCOTUS. Attorney / CLient privilege shouldn't apply when fraud against the state is at issue, and the lawyers should have been disbarred if they were hiding information about a crime they knew was going to occur on election day.

We need better whistleblower protection for people like Heller. Whistleblowers need legal assistance to guide them in how to reveal the illegalities of organizations they encounter without jeopardizing their lives or causing them to be charged with a crimes for coming forward. Any ideas on how to accomplish this?

i feel bad about the violation of attorney/client privilege -- everybody's entitled to an adequate defense even if they're guilty.but seriously -- this was an important, selfless act, and steve is paying the price for committing that particular crime.the fact that there were criminal charges brought against him was unconscionable, in my opinion. |
